Matthew 25:44-45
... ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in
prison, and not minister to your needs?’ He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not
do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’

There are two types of kindness in the world. There are Random acts of Kindness and there are Planned Acts of Kindness. I was involved with a random act of kindness just the other day. I was in a parking lot at a local supermarket and I saw that an elderly
woman needed help with putting groceries in her car. I asked her if she needed help, she obliged, and I helped her. I did not plan to go to the grocery store with the intention of helping this person. The opportunity presented itself and I helped her. This is different from Planned Acts of Kindness. One thing each of us can do as human beings is to reflect upon how we can reach out and help others. For example, I can find out if there is an organization that helps any person who is visually impaired. I can sign up to volunteer for this organization and they can place me with someone who needs their mail read to them, their cans of food organized, their home cleaned, checks written for their bills, etc. In this situation, I am thinking about someone who may need help, I do what I need to do to volunteer, and I go ahead and help this person or persons in any way that I can. This is a Planned Acts of Kindness. |

Both Random Acts of Kindness and Planned Acts of Kindness are great ways to be Christ-like in our lives! |
"Why should I reach out to others with
Planned Acts of Kindness?" Father Dennis O'Donnell sums it up in one of his talks given at Malvern Retreat House "Do we know what it is going to be like before we have the opportunity to get into heaven? Do we really know what is going to happen?" Father pauses and says, "We know exactly what is going to happen. We will be asked, 'Did you feed the hungry? Did you clothe the naked? Did you give drink to the thirsty? Did you visit the imprisoned? Did you care for the sick? Did you welcome strangers into your home?' This is what is going to happen on our Judgment Day." We need to reach out to others and to live our lives as Disciples of Jesus Christ. This is what He called us to do. |

Bucks County, PA (USA) Ministries There are so many organizations in southeastern Pennsylvania (USA) that reach out and help others who need it. Whether you have done much, some or no volunteering, check out the plethora of ministries in this region of the United States by clicking on the image above. |
Ministries in the United States (outside of Bucks County) If you are looking to volunteer at a place near your home, just go to the beginning of the Yellow Pages where you live. Look up the heading Guide to Human Services. Choose an organization that may interest you. Use a search engine such as Google and type in the organization's name or what volunteer activity you would like to get involved with. Read all about this volunteer work at that ministry's web site and go from there! The majority of the organizations in this section of my web site are far from my home, but they may be near where you live. I found these ministries by searching on the Internet. Click on the United States' image above to see what ministries I found! |
Mission Trips Outside the United States I read a book in 2012. It is called "52 Things Daughters Need from Their Dads - What Father's Can Do to Build a Lasting Relationship." What a great book! If I could add another chapter to this book, I would give this chapter the title "Going on a Mission Trip With My Daughter". I have been on several mission trips with my daughters, Christina and Sarah.. What a great way to strengthen the father-daughter relationship!
