Why Go on a Mission Trip?
Going on a mission trip to another country is one of the most rewarding experiences in my life. When I talk to other people about the top 5 faith items I have experienced in my lifetime, a mission trip is one of them. First, it is all about reaching out to others who are very poor, some people who have close to nothing in terms of basic necessities. My fixing a roof that will not leak anymore, installing a door where there was no door, building a set of steps for an elderly woman to walk out of her home, and building a bathroom where the home had no bathroom to begin with are just some of the jobs I have done on mission trips. Second, it is the fellowship with and the relationships formed with members of my family, with friends who are on the same trip as me, and with the natives of the villages and towns we help. Third, it what Jesus taught us to do. In Luke 10:27, Jesus says, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” Check out the mission trips that are mentioned below by clicking on the mission trip's image. You will be taken to that ministry's web site so that you can read about what is involved with each and every trip. If you are interested, navigate that mission trip's web site so that you can fill out the information to participate in a particular mission.

The slide show that is being shown above is a short list of mission trips and ministries where you can sponsor a child from various parts of the world. My daughters, Christina and Sarah, and I have been on the Karazim Ministries mission trip together several times. Christina has also been on the Foundation for Peace mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Haiti. One of my faith goals is to go on the Project Fiat mission trip to El Salvador in the summer of 2016.
My family sponsors a child through the ministry Unbound and another child through Food for the Hungry.. My daughter, Sarah, sponsors a child through the ministry World Vision. I have been listening to contemporary Christian music for close to 20 years. There are many songs that are great to listen to when I am doing volunteer work. Take the time to listen to some or all of the songs below. I especially enjoy listening to this music while on a work site on a mission trip or when assembling sandwiches to be given to people at a soup kitchen.
The music section on this page of the web site is currently under construction. There will be a number of contemporary Christian songs listed here that you can listen to at your leisure. This list of songs will appear here shortly. Thank you for your patience! May God bless you today and all the days of your life!

Why Sponsor a Child from Another Country?
Sponsoring a child who lives in another country is a wonderful experience! It gives you the opportunity to touch someone's life who may live on the other side of our planet. Many children who are sponsored live in some of the poorest areas of the world. Sponsoring a child gives our family the opportunity to reach out to a child and his or her family with a monetary donation once a month. As a result, this child can afford to be educated, clothed, fed, given shelter, etc. In the book of Genesis 1:27, it says, "God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." The children whom we sponsor all are created by God and in His image. They are children of God and we are reaching out to them, because that is what God taught us. Jesus says in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." That is exactly what we are doing, even though these children may not live right around the corner from where we live. Check out each of the "Sponsor A Child" ministries below by clicking on the organization's image. There are so many children to sponsor from so many countries throughout the world. When sponsoring a child, you can choose a boy or girl, the child's age, the country he or she is from, and even a child with the same birthday as you. It is so cool to know that you are helping a child and his or her family with some of the basic necessities in life! Unbound is an international nonprofit founded by lay Catholics grounded in the Gospel call to put the needs of the marginalized and vulnerable first. We build relationships of mutual respect and support that bridge cultural, religious and economic divides. We invite all people of goodwill to join us.
Compassion's programs are rooted in Christian child development and child advocacy. It's a long-term approach, beginning in some cases with prenatal care and going all the way through leadership development for qualified young adults.
